HONDA HAS MUCH experience building large-displacement dual-purpose bikes, but with the new XL1000V Varadero, the company has taken the concept to new heights. The Varadero (ostensibly named after a town in Cuba, though the word means "shipyard" in Spanish) is much more than an adventure tourer; it's really closer to a grand tourer, thanks to the broad range of uses it serves.

The layout of the XL1000V8's controls is superb, requiring minimal hand and foot movement to operate the simple but functional systems.
